VOLUNTEERS:

The Fort Smith Classic returns to Hardscrabble Country Club from Monday, May 5 through Sunday, May 11. The success of the tournament is thanks in no small part to those who give their time and energy to the event.

Volunteers are needed throughout the week in a number of different job areas (see the volunteer application for a list of committees and a description of duties). Most jobs are divided into morning and afternoon shifts.

Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering:

How many shifts am I required to work?
Volunteers can work as little or as much as they like. We ask you to volunteer for at least one shift.

Why are we charged a fee?
The $20 volunteer fee is used to offset the cost of the volunteer uniform. It is very typical for professional sporting events to charge a volunteer fee.

Where do I park?
Monday – Friday: Volunteers will park at TAC Air (located at the corner of Airport Drive and Phoenix Avenue near the old airport).

Saturday and Sunday: Volunteers will park at Southside High School (located at 4100 Gary Street).

A shuttle bus will take you to and from the golf course.

Where do I report for my shift?
The volunteer office is located just to the left when you enter through the main entrance. Please check-in at least 30 minutes before your shift to receive appropriate instructions and directions to your position. All volunteers are required to return to the volunteer office after their shift to check out.

What do I need to bring?
You should arrive at the golf course wearing you Volunteer Shirt and Volunteer Pin. Bring you volunteer badge and wear it at all times. Leave your cell phone at home. It is not allowed on course!

Who do I call if I am unable to make my shift?
Call your committee chairperson as soon as you know you are unable to make your shift. If he or she is not available, please call the volunteer office.

Where do I eat?
Each volunteer will be given one meal per shift worked. Typically meals are served in the volunteer area. Some duties require volunteers to eat in the area in which they work. In these cases meals will be brought to you. Soda and water will be available in the volunteer tent and at on-course locations all day.

Will there be storage for personal items?
No, we do not have space for storage of personal items. The volunteer office will be staffed by the volunteer services committee but we cannot guarantee security. Please leave personal items at home.

Do I report for my shift if it rains?
Yes, even if you are scheduled for an outdoor assignment. In case of a weather emergency, or rain delay, you will be given instruction by your committee chairperson or tournament staff. Bring rain gear/jacket.

Can I take photos and/or get autographs?
You are the public's first impression of the Fort Smith Classic Classic. No cameras allowed during professional play. Please maintain professionalism, be courteous and helpful at all times. Autographs are only allowed after player's rounds are completed.
